Hello dear family,
 
First of all we want to say thank you for all you do for us, for yor love, prayers, and your support, but most of all for your faithful commitment to our dear LORD.  We also want to wish you All a blessed THANKSGIVING DAY!
 
So many things are happening right now, this month (November) is a very busy month for our parents Bill & Mary, many of us have already graduated, thanks to the Lord, you and our family of Niños de la luz. Even though life seems harder, we are so grateful and blessed by having you as part of our lives.

Hi dear friends and family,

In the week of the 15th through  the 19th of September we had for the first time a group from Bill’s son’s Church in north east Florida by the name of Celebration Baptist Church.  We all, especially the kids, were so blessed to have them, what an awesome group… I’m sure my husband is so proud of his son Pastor Michael Kwiatkowski because he is a great leader, praise the Lord for Pastor Michael’s life.

This group worked on building more sidewalks to continue to connect the buildings at the boys’ home, they also did some painting in the school. Besides that, they spent precious time with all our boys.

All of our thanks and grattitude to Celebration Baptist Church, we love you all. Please come back soon.

Day of the Child Celebration!!

Hola Dear family of Niños de la Luz/Children of the Light.

September is a very special month, two great reasons: We celebrate  the day of the child on September 10th and our Independence on September 15th. We had the blessing of a local bilingual school that came to celebrate with our boys, they brought a nice lunch, cake and lots of goodies, the kids were very happy. In the afternoon a very nice family  invited us for dinner at “Pizza Hut”, the boys’ favorite place to eat… they normally eat all they want.  This family has been doing this for the last two years, they invite the kids and staff.

This celebration was the first experience for Milton and Pedrito as they are the newest residents of the family. By the way, Pedrito has a broken arm.  A week and a half ago he fell on his arm and broke it.  He is doing fine and having the cast did not stop him from joining the different acitvities including breaking a piñata.

Please pray that Milton and Pedro will continue to live with us.  The Family Judge already gave back their custody to their mom. We talked to her and asked her to let us keep the boys, and she agreed but we do not know for how long that will be. This lady has a daughter (13) and two boys (10) and (6); Milton (8) and Pedro (7) plus a 4-year-old that lives with his uncle. The first three kids are back with her after being under the goverment custody for 5 years.

Hi everyone!

It has been a a long time since we have written, as usual we are very busy but not too busy to say that we need your prayers more than ever. Time is flying and our kids are growing taller, smarter and older, Praise the Lord for that.

August has been a difficult month in all areas but at the same time a blessed month because we have learned to wait on the Lord and trust Him, He has the control over everything. Bill has been away for over three weeks and is coming back today, we miss him so much, it is not the same without him. Please pray that the Lord will give him the strength, peace and wisdom to continue being the head of the Niños de la Luz/Children of the Light family.

Please help us pray that we will be getting enough monthly support so we can provide in all the needs our dear boys have.

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:12-13

As July pushes on, we are realizing how much time flies when you are here.  Samantha, Christina, and I, Cassidy, have been here for two weeks now and are enjoying the continuation of building strong relationships with the 23 boys here at Niños.  Our time here again this summer is precious.  The boys are doing very well.  They are all still in school since their long break is in the winter.  The new school here in the project is operating very well.  There are two excellent teachers, one with first grade and one with second.  The education the young boys and surrounding village kids are getting is a high quality, reliable one.  How wonderful it is to hear the little ones reading donated books to us in their free time.  Also, the construction of the new boys dorm is coming along.  Everyday the workers are here working but the afternoon showers cause the process to be a bit slower.  However, with the large group from Tomball Bible Church coming on July 14th, it is a hope to accomplish a large chunk in that week.  Praise the Lord for the finances that are allowing this building to be constructed.  In addition to the extra helping hands in medical and construction around the project, the boys are extremely excited that their padrinos are coming.  Padrinos- remember that it isn´t about the gifts you bring, but it is about the time and love you share with them.  Also know that your monthly support is a huge help in the necessary, daily needs of the boys.  With the constant replenishing of shoes, uniforms, bus money, school tuition, etc., you all make it possible to provide all these things. 

Last Saturday, all 23 boys, 2 educators, the cook and her daughter, Mary, and us three girls piled in the big white truck and went to the river.  It was a beautiful place where we got to swim and enjoy very cool, refreshing water.  It was proof that boys are boys no matter where they live.  The boys were jumping from the highest rock they could find and sliding down watershoots (haha).  It is always cute to see the boys playing and helping each other.  Melvin and Manuel were teaching the new little one, Pedro, how to swim while Santos was giving piggy back rides to the cook´s little girl.  The way they take care of each other and interact as a family is heart-warming. Long story short, we are taking advantage of every moment spent here at Niños de la Luz and with Bill and Mary.  What a pleasure it is to serve here 4 years in a row and see the Lord working through this place.

Another New Video!

In a strong effort to spread the word about Children of the Light, a few of us volunteers in the States have been on a media campaign.  Here’s another installment: a video compiling footage from July 2007 with photos from May 2008 of the boys and the project with the purpose of encouraging the Sponsorship Program.  Although the program is still not online, you can see the video here first.  And, as always, the second that Sponsor site gets up and running, we’ll post the news here first.
